Using the data
Data through 2026-10-25
Data and methodology
Weekly observations cover four-week periods. Charts use the last published week in each month and update the latest point weekly. States and counties use official monthly data. Metro statistics follow the actual statistical boundaries, rather than city limits.
Weekly dates are observation-period ends, not today's date. Adjacent weekly windows can overlap. Year-over-year changes compare corresponding periods, not adjacent months. Inventory refers to active listings, not the number of newly built homes.
How to read these numbers
The median sale price is the middle price among homes sold. Changes in location, size and the mix of homes sold can move it; individual homes may behave differently.
Asking and sale prices describe different sets of homes. Their difference is not a negotiating discount.
Current observations are calculated from the public snapshot; regional reading guides are written for this platform. Comparisons cover only the listed markets, not a ranking of the whole region.
Missing values remain unavailable, not zero. Regional groups are browsing choices, not official aggregated markets. Source area names and Redfin IDs appear on market cards. For an individual home, investigate comparable sales, commuting, building condition and ownership costs.
